Could Repentance and Return to The Torah Lift the Corona Virus Curse?
By Laura Densmore
Recently, Breaking Israel News ran a phenomenal news story about the “Virtual House of Prayer for all Nations” that brings together representatives from around the world. This amazing initiative is coming from Orthodox Jew, Jeremy Gimpel. He established the Arugot Farm with three other environmentally-minded Israelis seeking a similar prayerful existence, and is now inviting people from the nations to join “The Land of Israel Fellowship” each Sunday for worship, prayer, and Torah study.
In the new Corona Virus world that we are now living in, in the world of social distancing and limiting the gathering size of groups, doing a Virtual prayer meeting is a creative “work-around” for connecting with each other and with the Father in the heaven.
There is another prayer initiative coming from the Christian side of the aisle. Recently,
The Torah House Global Prayer Network was launched. What is the vision of The Torah House?
The Torah-House is an imaginary space where Hebrew Roots believers pray every Friday night (Erev Shabbat) at 9:00pm (in their own local time zone) alone or with a local fellowship group.
Believers come into a private prayer space called the Torah-House. In that heavenly place of prayer, they honor the Father for His Torah. They repent that their own nation has become increasingly Torah-less. They pray that more and more Christians would have their eyes opened to following the Torah of Yeshua.
The Torah house now has Prayer Coordinators from 17 nations so far, including:
Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Holland
India, Namibia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Switzerland
USA.
Each month there is a prayer theme of focus for that month.
In light of the global Corona virus pandemic, many are looking for solutions to the problem. There is a big push to find a vaccine to protect against the virus.
Yet, on the spiritual side of things, we learn from the scriptures that God is speaking to us through the pestilence. He is the one who sends or allows the pestilence and He is speaking to us through it.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14 gives us instruction on what we must do: we are called to repent:
“When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
Secondly, the God of Israel is speaking to us through the pestilence. He is calling us to remember and return to the Torah of Moses:
“Remember the Torah of Moses, My servant,
Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,
With the statutes and judgments.
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.
And he will turn
The hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
Malachi 4:4-6
So, as prayer is lifted up all over the nations each Friday night at 9pm, and as believers ask for the Father to pour out His spirit and draw more and more Christians to “remember the Torah of Moses”, may the orchestra of prayer move the hand and the heart of the Father!
