That famous opening paragraph to Charles Dickens’ remarkable book, A Tale of Two Cities, was prophetic of the day and age in which we live, which if re-released today might be entitled A Tale of Two Kingdoms.
In the mid-1990s, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, issued a fatwa declaring that nuclear weapons were forbidden under Islamic law. On February 28, 2026, Ali Khamenei was killed in an Israeli airstrike, and that fatwa died with him. On March 9 his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was officially named the Supreme Leader, but he was wounded in the airstrike that killed his father, his wife, and other family members, and he has yet to be seen in public. In a written statement released on March 12, he promised revenge for the “martyrs.”
This illustrates the difference between these two kingdoms, the Kingdom of Light (represented by Judaism and Christianity), and the Kingdom of Darkness (represented by Islam):
The Kingdom of Light operates under the principle of repentance. The Kingdom of Darkness operates under the principle of revenge.
Ishmael and Isaac
The child grew and was weaned, and on the day Isaac was weaned Abraham held a great feast. But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking, and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.” Genesis 21:8-10 (NIV)
Isaac became the father of the Jews, while Ishmael became the father of the Arabs. The source of the hatred that Muslims (the descendants of Ishmael) have for Jews (the descendants of Abraham) and Christians (the spiritual descendants of Abraham), and the roots of revenge go back to when Abraham banished Ishmael and his Egyptian mother Hagar.
Those seeds of Ishmael’s abandonment, rejection and anger have metastasized into the Arabic fruits of bitterness, hatred and revenge.
This is the source of the spiritual battle underway in the heavenly realm, as reflected in warfare on the world stage between Israel (Jews), the United States (Christians), and Iran (Muslims).
The Nuclear Option
On August 6, 1945 the United States dropped an atomic bomb (“Little Boy”) on Hiroshima. Three days later another atomic bomb (“Fat Man”) was dropped on Nagasaki. Since then the doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) has prevented the further use of nuclear weapons and kept the world safe.
Until now.
Last year, during the 12-day war in Iran called Operation Midnight Hammer (the US) / Operation Rising Lion (Israel), President Trump dramatically declared that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been “obliterated”. The bombs used to “obliterate” Iran’s nuclear capabilities were bunker-busting bombs, the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), designed to penetrate deep underground targets, and the largest non-nuclear bomb available. (The GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) is the largest conventional bomb in the U.S. arsenal, but is an airburst bomb designed to deliver a massive concussive blast over a wide area—without crossing the line into nuclear warfare).
But while the Natanz site was destroyed and Fordow and Isfahan suffered major damage, Iran’s nuclear capabilities have only been set back, not “obliterated”.[1] Since the 2025 bombings, Iran has retained its nuclear weapons capability and critical materials, allowing it to quickly rebuild its programme despite significant damage to its facilities. The country has also accelerated its enrichment capabilities, reaching a point where it could produce enough weapons-grade uranium for a bomb within days if it chose to do so.
But key nuclear facilities critical to Iran’s nuclear programme, such as the Arak Heavy Water Reactor and the Tehran Research Reactor, were not bombed and remain operational. Additionally, Pickaxe Mountain, a suspected underground nuclear site, is 100 metres underground and deeper than those at Fordo and Natanz bombed last year, thus putting Pickaxe Mountain out of reach of the massive bunker-busting bombs used in last year’s strikes. Additionally, there’s the hundreds of kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% whose fate is unknown, much of which may still be buried deep inside hardened underground complexes.
The only military option left to truly destroy these deep underground facilities is the nuclear option.
On August 5, 2026 Iran’s top Revolutionary Commander vowed to pursue nuclear weapons as long as the United States and Israel possessed them. On the same day President Trump issued a thinly veiled threat to use nuclear weapons, saying, “So we had an attack [planned] that would’ve been the biggest attack since World War II.” The not-so-subtle message Trump was conveying to Iran was that while we didn’t resort to nuclear weapons this time, he was sending them a veiled threat that that option is still on the table.
Given that Iran seeks revenge and could produce a nuclear weapon, it is possible that:
- Iran reaches breakout capability and launches a nuclear weapon against Israel (Iran lacks ballistic technology to reach the US)
- Israel and/or America launches a nuclear weapon(s) on the remaining nuclear facilities to reach depths not possible with bunker-busting bombs

Furthermore, let’s not forget that Putin has threatened the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine, while John Paul Jackson (1950-2015), author, teacher and founder of Streams Ministries International, prophesied many years ago that a “dirty bomb” would hit a coastal US city, rendering it uninhabitable for 30 years.
Any and all of these options are possible, but as I was meditating and waiting on the Lord on Saturday August 1, I felt an urgency in my spirit that “a nuclear event” is now imminent.
An Open Heaven
The term “open heaven” refers to a state or season in which divine favor, revelation, and fellowship flow abundantly from God to His people on earth. It is where the boundary between heaven and earth disappears and access to the heavenly realm is available, where visions, revelation, the manifestation of God’s power, and revival conditions are all possible.
The first example we see in scripture is in Genesis, a story often referred to as Jacob’s ladder:
And he [Jacob] dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it! And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring… Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven… He called the name of that place Bethel [Bethel in Hebrew means “House of God].” Genesis 28:12-19 (ESV, emphasis added)
Ezekiel’s ministry began with an open heaven, where he was granted prophetic insight revealing God’s glory and judgment:
In my thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God. Ezekiel 1:1 (NIV, emphasis added)
When Jesus was baptised, the heavens were opened and He had access to the heavenly realm:
Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove… Luke 3:21-22 (ESV, emphasis added)
Immediately after His baptism He entered the wilderness “full of the spirit” (Luke 4:1) to overcome the three temptations we must all face (vv. 2-13) – the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life – and emerged from the wilderness victorious in the “power of the spirit” (v 14). And everywhere He went after that, revival conditions followed Him, for He had an “open heaven” above Him with access to the heavenly realm.
We are now entering a season where the veil that is over the entire world will be rent asunder:
And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. Isaiah 25:7 (ESV, emphasis added)

The doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) has cast a veil of security over humanity’s collective consciousness ever since 1945, a security that we won’t resort to the use of nuclear weapons again.
But a nuclear event is coming, and when it does the “veil that is spread over all nations” will be rent asunder and humanity’s collective conscience will be pierced, exposing humanity to the presence of sin in their lives, receptive to the message of the Gospel of the Kingdom (with signs and wonders following), and thus vulnerable to the Word of God as never before:
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)
In April, I published an article in the Times of Israel called The Iran War & Artemis II: The Spiritual Dimension, which highlighted the significance of this moment in time. Artemis II went further into space than mankind has ever traveled before, a journey that broke through the veil of Lucifer’s dominion on this planet to reach out into God’s Kingdom and touch His realm.
In like manner, God is now going to break that veil that covers the world and expose humanity to His Presence as never before, revealing sin to humanity in a way we have never experienced, and the corresponding need for redemption.
Gone are the days when we have to debate, argue and try to convince people to come to church and get saved. Our very presence with an open heaven above us, and the mantle of the Spirit of the fear of the Lord surrounding us (Isaiah 11:2), will be all it takes to convict people of sin.
Forerunners
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD. Isaiah 11:2 (NIV, emphasis added)
Charles Finney (1792-1875), the “Father of Modern Revivalism,” carried that mantle. He didn’t have to preach; his mere presence was enough for people to be convicted of sin. He could get on a tram, sit down and say nothing, and by the time the tram reached its next stop, people were either crying out in repentance, or getting off the tram! He could walk into a factory and the factory would shut down, as workers started weeping. He could walk into a town without saying a word, and people would begin to tremble under conviction.
Walter Beuttler (1904-74) was a bible teacher who walked with the Lord intimately, teaching the principles of the “Manifest Presence of the Lord” wherever he went. He was also a mentor to my own pastor, Neville Johnson, whose own successful ministry owed a debt of gratitude to the principles taught by Beuttler. I had the privilege of hearing him speak shortly before his death in 1974.
Beuttler also carried this same mantle of the Spirit of the fear of the Lord as Charles Finney. This account by Wade Taylor of the day he visited a Pentecostal bible school in Pennsylvania is telling, given that the audience consisted of spirit-filled bible students and faculty members:
When Walter finished telling us stories about his friend [Jesus] that day he did an interesting thing. He slowly turned his back to the congregation. And just waited. I thought, I haven’t seen this before. No one moved. A holy hush took over. There was total silence for several moments when suddenly a woman stood crying. She began to confess sins to the whole church. I couldn’t believe it. Walter? He just continued to wait with his back to the congregation until she was finished. No sooner had she finished and someone else stood and began to confess their sins to the church. Person after person stood.
Eventually I stood as well. The presence of God was electrifying. It was serious. Compassionate. Loving. All that! When finally things quieted down again Walter Beuttler turned back to the congregation and thanked us for loving his friend and walked off the platform.”
These men who carried the mantle of the Spirit of the fear of the Lord were forerunners for what is about to come upon the entire world.
Transfiguration

Glory and transfiguration are related, and will be visible upon us:
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. Isaiah 60:1 (NIV, emphasis added)
But what is this “glory”? The glory of God and the goodness of God are synonymous terms:
Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you… Exodus 33:18-19 (NIV, emphasis added)
Glory therefore, is a manifestation of the goodness of God. It is also connected with miracles:
Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the Lord fills the whole earth, not one of those who saw my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness… Numbers 14:21-22 (NIV, emphasis added)

The following passages of scripture give the historical setting and context for when transfiguration and the glory of God is to occur:
Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear. Matthew 13:36-43 (NIV, emphasis added)
And six days later Jesus brought with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. And Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three booths here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” Matthew 17:1-5 (LSB, emphasis added)
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the Feast of Booths [i.e. Feast of Tabernacles] to the Lord… You shall dwell in booths for seven days. Leviticus 23:33-34, 42 (ESV, emphasis added)
In the parable of the weeds above (Matthew 13:36-43), Jesus said that the righteous will “shine like the sun” when the final harvest occurs at the “end of the age”.
Peter’s suggestion to build three “booths” (Matthew 17:4) at the transfiguration gives us the context: the feast of Tabernacles – which I believe the Church entered into historically on October 7, 2023. Scripture therefore defines the Christian experience of Tabernacles as transfiguration, in the same way that scripture defines the Christian experience of Pentecost as speaking in tongues (Acts 2), and the Christian experience of Passover as salvation (1 Corinthians 5:7; John 1:29).
The phrase “six days later” (Matthew 17:1) gives us the historical setting for the fulfillment of this passage experientially in us, for we are living at the end of the sixth Day of creation:
The “Morning Star”
Peter, who was one of the disciples with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, refers to this experience as the “morning star rising in our hearts”:
For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:16-19 (NIV, emphasis added)
The phrase “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased” was heard on two occasions: the first when Jesus was baptised and introduced to the world not only as the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29), but also the Son of God by the other three gospel writers (Matthew 3:17; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22).
The second time was during His transfiguration on “the sacred mountain”.[2] I believe the Church has now entered into the Feast of Tabernacles experientially. The phrase “This is my Son,” which introduced Jesus as the Son of God to the world, now becomes the prophetic declaration: “These are my sons and daughters whom I love, and with whom I am well pleased” – that God will introduce to the world who represent His overcomers who will continue His ministry!
The phrase “a light shining” refers to Jesus:
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 (NIV, emphasis added)
We have tended to spiritualise this verse, but this promise from Jesus to give us the “light of life” (i.e. transfiguration) is still within the context of the Feast of Tabernacles that began in the previous chapter (John 7:37-39). This is therefore the context for when it will have its literal fulfillment within us.
The phrase “in a dark place” is a prophetic reference to the darkest period in human history: the Tribulation. The Tribulation season (2029-35) is rapidly approaching!
The phrase “the day dawns” is a prophetic reference to the new day dawning in human history: the seventh day, the Day of Rest, or the millennial reign of Christ.
These two phrases provide additional context for when the “morning star rises in our hearts” (2 Peter 1:19).
The “morning star” of course is a reference to Venus, the brightest star in the morning, which appears in the east. It is also referred to as the evening star due to its 584-day cycle, but is referenced here as the morning star. Why?
[2] Matthew 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:35. The sacred mountain is not named in scripture, but the two most prominent prospects are Mt. Tabor and Mt. Hermon. It could also be Mt. Zion, which is where the tabernacle of David rested, and where the manifest presence of God was visible to all (2 Samuel 6). It would also explain why Paul exhorts us in Hebrews 12:18-22 to move from Mt. Sinai (the baptism of the Holy Spirit) to Mt. Zion (the manifest presence of God).
This dual reference to Venus as the morning and evening star recalls the Jewish day, which begins at sundown. The transition to the Messianic Kingdom therefore begins with the darkest hour in human history, the Tribulation.
After Jesus was transfigured, He told His disciples to tell no one what they had seen until after His resurrection (Matthew 17:9).
Why did He say that?
Because the truth of what had taken place within Him wouldn’t be fully understood until after the resurrection had taken place. Something inside Him had reached “critical mass,” where every molecule in His body changed and the fullness of God broke through Him until He was transfigured. Light inside Him began to increase like a slow explosion until His skin – and clothes – began to shine. Resurrection life had reached its fullness within Him, and after this He would never be the same again.
Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20-21 (NKJV, emphasis added)
In the darkest hour on this planet, the morning star will begin to arise within God’s people until “critical mass” occurs, when that light and life of the kingdom of God within us reaches its fullness and explodes from the inside outwards, where every cell is restored and made alive with His resurrection life, where aging stops and death is finally conquered (1 Corinthians 15:54-56), where the powers of the ages to come (such as Philip’s transport, Acts 8:26-40) are activated by transfiguration, when He is finally fully revealed to the world IN us (Ephesians 4:13) before He comes FOR us at the end of the age.
N.B. Transfiguration is not to be confused with having a resurrection body. Transfiguration reveals the fullness of Christ and His glory within us, while a resurrection body is what we receive at His second coming.[3]
A Sign in the Natural World
The term “critical mass” is of course a nuclear term. Both Neville Johnson and Paul Cain (one of the Kansas City Prophets prominent during the Charismatic Movement) used this term independently – and within six months of each other – in 2010 at Shekinah Worship Center in Lancaster, CA to describe where the Church was historically.
The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 1 Corinthians 15:46 (NIV)
This “first-in-the-natural-then-in-the-spiritual” principle, suggests that a nuclear event of some kind will occur somewhere in the world, an explosion of light in the natural realm that will foreshadow an explosion of light occurring within us spiritually – transfiguration – and which will be visible to all.
I believe this nuclear event will be the sign in the natural world that transfiguration is imminent.

A Sign in the Heavens

T Coronae Borealis (T CrB) is a binary star and a recurrent nova about 3,000 light years away in the constellation Corona Borealis. It was first observed on May 12, 1866 and 80 years later for a second time on February 9, 1946. Eighty years later it is expected to be visible again this year, which will be its “third witness.” It has been called by Astronomy Magazine “the brightest nova of the generation,” and will be visible to the naked eye for only a few days, as bright as the North Star.
I believe this will be the sign in the heavens that the "morning star" shining from within us is imminent.
Jesus has issued us all an invitation to receive the morning star:
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” Revelation 22:16-17 (NKJV, emphasis added)
But first you have to qualify to receive the Morning Star, for in order to experience transfiguration, and to rule and reign with Him during the Millennium, you must be an overcomer:
And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations— ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’— as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star. Revelation 2:25-29 (NKJV, emphasis added)
Jesus was the first overcomer to be equipped with the powers of the ages to come with access to the heavenly realm. Everywhere He went, an open heaven accompanied Him, revealing the presence of sin in the lives of all those He encountered.
The Final Generation
Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; Psalm 90:10 (NIV)
The founding of the nation-state of Israel in 1948 marked the beginning of the “final generation.” That “final generation” is now 78 years old and reaching maturity.
Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah. Matthew 1:17 (NIV, emphasis added)
However, when you count the generations listed from vv. 12-16, there are only 13 generations mentioned. There is a generation missing. That missing generation will be a generation of overcomers, the Lord’s “offspring”, who will “prolong his days” i.e. continue His ministry in these last days.
Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him [Jesus] and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:10 (NIV, emphasis added)
This “final generation” of overcomers will reveal the fullness of Christ within them as a witness to the world, before He returns for us to bring final judgment to the world.
This “final generation” of overcomers will be transfigured for all the world to see, preaching the message of the Gospel of the Kingdom with signs and wonders following, so that all will see a demonstration of the power of God so that “no one will be without excuse” (Romans 1:20).
Summary

Israel will be 80 years old in 2028. T Coronae Borealis is expected to make its third appearance sometime this year, with each previous appearance 80 years apart. This is a sign in the heavens and a witness to the world that this “final generation” is reaching maturity, heralding the rise of the overcomers.
This “final generation” of overcomers will have the fullness of the stature of Christ fully developed within, revealing God’s glory (i.e. His goodness) to the world through their deeds (signs, wonders and miracles), and reflecting His glory to the world through transfiguration.
This generation of overcomers will walk under their own personal “open heaven”, with access to the heavenly realm and the powers of the ages to come as never before, as God pours out His Spirit upon “all flesh” (i.e. the entire unregenerate world) in these last days under a global “open heaven” that reveals sin to “all flesh” and the need for personal redemption.
- A nuclear event is imminent!
- The appearance of T Coronae Borealis in the heavens is imminent!
- Transfiguration is imminent!
- The rise of the overcomers is imminent!
How will the world respond to potentially millions of Christians being transfigured? How will the world be able to deny the evidence of miracles and the visibility of transfigured human beings walking among them? If one man, Jesus, had more impact on humanity than anyone else, imagine the impact an army of His overcomers will have! What excuses will the world offer to explain the events on full display before their very eyes?
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 (NIV, emphasis added)
This visible demonstration of God’s power and glory to the entire world being administered by the “offspring” of the Lord (the overcomers), continuing His ministry and doing “even greater works” than He did (John 14:12), will leave “no one without excuse” (Romans 1:20).
And when everyone on this planet has seen a demonstration of the power of God, mankind’s reign on earth will end, the Messiah will arrive and set up His Kingdom, the world will finally have peace and safety, and humanity will ultimately live up to the potential God had always envisaged for us from the beginning.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1 (NIV, emphasis added)
The finishing line is in sight. The final harvest must come in. From now on it will be all hands to the plough to finish the “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:16-20) and make disciples of all nations.
For there is now no doubt that there is less than ten years left before He comes to set up His Kingdom! It is time to refocus the direction we have for our lives, and focus instead on where His purposes are headed.
